Police are to contact all members of an Edinburgh gym as part of their appeal for information about a shooting.

Robert Kelbie, 27, was injured in the attack in the car park of Bannatyne's Health Club in Newcraighall on Wednesday 20 October.

Officers are sending out letters to gym members asking them to come forward if they were at the club at 1920 BST.

The club has 3,000 members and officers believe at least 60 of them were in the building during the shooting.

Police are also urging the public to come forward with any information about a burned out Vauxhall Vectra that was found miles away in West Bryson Road and is similar in description to a car seen in the car park at the time of the attack.

Large windows

Two people were spotted on CCTV footage running from the area where the car was found abandoned.

Det Ch Insp Richard Thomas, of Lothian and Borders police, said: "Both the cafe and fitness suite have large windows that look onto the car park and there is a good chance someone, who was in the middle of exercising or having a refreshment, will have seen something.

"It is to those individuals that I direct this appeal and would urge everyone to think back to the night of the shooting.

"Did you see a grey or silver Vauxhall Vectra in the car park? Can you remember anything about the driver? If so please come forward to police immediately."
