Seven in court in Edinburgh over cocaine seizure

Seven people have appeared in court in Edinburgh after cocaine with a street value of £500,000 was seized.

More than 11 kilos of cocaine were recovered during police raids at addresses in the capital, the Lothians and Lanarkshire on Friday.

Gary Yorke, 44, Andrew Baillie, 36, Kenneth Glen, 24, Lee Calder, 29, John Russell, 45, Darren Macholecki, 32, and Jean Rogers, 28, were charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

They made no plea or declaration.

Mr Yorke, of Dalkeith, Mr Baillie, from Shotts, and Mr Calder, from Edinburgh were remanded in custody, following their appearance at the city's sheriff court on Monday.

Mr Glen, of Dalkeith, Mr Russell, from Forth, Mr Macholecki, from Shotts and Ms Rogers, of Shotts, were released on bail.
