River Forth crews search for missing swimmer

Search crews have been looking for a 44-year-old swimmer who went missing as he tried to make his way across the River Forth from Kincardine Bridge.

Emergency crews were contacted by the man's girlfriend shortly after 2000 BST after he failed to resurface.

Forth Coastguard said witnesses had described seeing an unconscious man drifting in the water.

The search was stood down on Friday night but was due to resume at first light on Saturday.

The missing man's name has not been released.

South Queensferry and Kinghorn Coastguard Rescue Team were also called out, along with a RNLI inshore lifeboat, police and a Royal Navy rescue helicopter.
