Driver charged after lollipop man knocked down

A motorist who hit a school crossing patrol man on an Edinburgh road has been charged with careless driving.

The incident happened at 0815 BST on a crossing outside George Watson's College on Colinton Road.

The lollipop man, in his 50s, was treated at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for minor head and leg injuries after he struck the car's windscreen.

Lothian and Borders Police said an 18-year-old man had been reported to the procurator fiscal.
