Vandals cause £1,500 worth of damage to Bathgate church

Vandals who smashed a stained glass window and caused £1,500 worth of damage to a West Lothian church are being sought by police.

The United Reformed Church in Bathgate was targeted overnight on Saturday and also had eggs thrown at the building.

The vandalism took place between Saturday at 1800 BST and 0945 BST on Sunday.

St Andrews Church in Livingston was also targeted over Easter but the incidents are not thought to be linked.

Insp Stephen Elliot, of Lothian and Borders Police, said: "These incidents are mindless acts of vandalism to buildings that serve our local communities.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen some suspicious activity in Marjoribanks Street on either Saturday night or Sunday morning, to get in touch as a matter of urgency."
