Heroin worth £900,000 found in car in Howgate

Police have seized 9kg of heroin with a street value of £900,000 after stopping a car during a routine check in Midlothian.

Police stopped the car near Howgate earlier.

A subsequent search of the driver's home led also to 5,000 ecstasy tablets being recovered, worth about £5,000.

A 27-year-old man has been charged in connection with the recovery and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday.
