Man faces attempted murder charge over attack on killer

A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to murder Robert Chalmers, the man convicted of killing Samantha Wright.

Allister Gibb, 31, from Calder Crescent in Edinburgh, is accused of pouring petrol over Chalmers and trying to set fire to him.

The attack is alleged to have happened as Chalmers was led from the High Court in Edinburgh on Thursday.

Mr Gibb made no plea or declaration and was released on bail.
