Man killed in Brigton Farm tree fall accident

The wife of a man killed in a "tragic accident" while chopping down trees on a farm in Fife has paid tribute to her "loving husband".

Norman Robertson, 69, from Springfield in Fife, was killed when one of the trees he was cutting fell on him, causing fatal injuries.

It happened at Brigton Farm, near St Andrews, at 1000 BST on Saturday.

Health and safety experts are investigating the circumstances of the accident to examine safety procedures.

Joyce Robertson said: "Norman was a loving husband and father, who worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family.

"We are all struggling to come to terms with his passing at this time."

A Fife Constabulary spokesman said: "We can confirm we were called to an area of farmland in the St Andrews area of Fife where a man died in what appears to be a tragic accident.

"Fife Police are still at the early stages of investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this incident and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
