Boy kicked in face by bike thief

A thief kicked a 15-year-old schoolboy in the face before stealing the youngster's bike, police in Edinburgh have said.

The 15-year-old was with friends near Forrester High School when he was pushed off his bicycle by the attacker.

Detectives said that when the boy was down on the ground the thief kicked the teenager before cycling off.

The incident happened at around 2145 GMT on Thursday in the Broomhouse Road area of the city.

The thief is described as between 17 and 18 years old, 6ft tall and of medium build.

He was wearing black Nike jogging bottoms, a black and red Adidas top and black Forest Hill trainers with a blue trim.

A police spokesman said: "Fortunately the victim was not badly injured, however he is understandably upset at the theft of his bike.

"Anyone who was in the area at the time, who either witnessed the incident or saw the suspect on the stolen bike, should contact police immediately."
