Youths charged over Russell Augo Salvage bird barbecue

Five teenagers have been charged in connection with an incident where a nest of baby birds were barbecued during a vandalism attack in Fife.

The youths, aged between 13-15 years, were charged with vandalism and setting fire to a birds nest in Russell Augo Salvage in Glenrothes.

Four two-day-old blackbird chicks had been nesting inside a car.

The youths are being reported to the Youth Offender Management Group, a body tackling youth crime.

The garage was attacked by vandals over the weekend of 18 and 19 June.

The estimated cost of the damage caused at the garage was about £50,000.
