Woman hit by taxi in Edinburgh 'critical'

A woman has been critically injured in Edinburgh after being hit by a taxi.

The accident happened at about 0155 BST on Sunday in York Place.

The 23-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury. She was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary before being transferred to the Western General Hospital.

Lothian and Borders Police have issued an appeal for anyone who was in York Place and witnessed the accident to contact them.
