Man in court over crack cocaine haul in Edinburgh

A man has appeared in court after police seized crack cocaine with an estimated street value of £150,000 in the Marchmont area of Edinburgh.

Ripton Thomas, 48, faced two charges under the Misuse of Drugs act when he appeared on petition in private at the capital's sheriff court.

He made no plea or declaration and was granted bail. His case was continued.

About 1.5kg of crack cocaine was discovered at a property in Warrender Park Crescent last Thursday.

Officers also seized £12,000 in cash.

A 21-year-old man is due to appear in court at a later date.
