Stefan King buys several large pubs in Edinburgh
Glasgow nightclub owner Stefan King has snapped up several large pubs in Edinburgh.
His G1 Group has bought Biddy Mulligan's in the Grassmarket, The Three Sisters in the Cowgate and the Bank Hotel and Bar on the Royal Mile.
He has also bought the Murrayfield Hotel, near the national rugby stadium.
The deal, said to be worth about £30m, comes after the rival Festival Group of leisure businesses was forced into administration.
Festival Group, which included ScotBet, was sold last week, protecting 175 jobs.
Stefan King already has 43 pubs, clubs and restaurants all over Scotland.
The Hudson Hotel at the end of Edinburgh's Princes Street, along with its associated nightclub, Bacaro, has been sold to Saltire Taverns Limited.
Blair Nimmo, joint administrator and head of restructuring for KPMG in Scotland said: "I am very pleased to be able to announce the successful sale of these five businesses.
"175 jobs have been protected and the businesses themselves will be able to benefit from investment from the two new owners.
"I wish them every success with their new ventures."
