Man found in West Lothian road with head injury

A 26-year-old man was left in a serious condition in hospital after being found lying on a road in West Lothian with head injuries.

Police said he had been socialising in the West End Hotel in West Calder on Saturday night.

The man left the hotel and walked west along Main Street, and was discovered on the road shortly after midnight.

Police believe he may have been hit by a car, but are still trying to piece together what happened.

Officers are particularly keen to speak to the driver of a family-sized red or burgundy car seen driving along Main Street around the time of the accident.

They said the man was in a "serious but stable" condition in hospital.

A police spokesman said: "While this man had been out with friends prior to the incident, the exact course of events leading to his discovery is unclear.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, and who may have witnessed anything that could assist us with our inquiries."
