A body found in woods in Fife has been identified as a soldier who went missing two months ago, police have confirmed.

Mehmet Ali Osman, 25, from Lochgelly, had been posted absent without leave by his unit.

His body was found near the Dulloch Park area of Dunfermline last week.

Fife Constabulary said the death was not being treated as suspicious. Mr Osman was last seen at his family home in Southwark, south London on 31 May.

The soldier was due to report for duty at Catterick army base in North Yorkshire but did not turn up.

A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.
