Flat overlooking Old Course at St Andrews up for sale
An apartment which offers views over the 18th green of the Old Course at St Andrews has been put on the market for offers over £1.75m.
The double upper apartment sits on The Links, one of the best residential addresses in sport.
Interest is expected from across the world because of this "rare" chance to buy a property in the area.
The last home to be sold on The Links became the priciest property per square foot in Scotland.
It is believed to have sold for "well over" the asking price of £3.75m, equating to at least £1,350 a square foot.
The Old Course has hosted the Open Championship more times than any other and is the only course to host it every five years.
The apartment has spectacular views over some of golf's most iconic landmarks such as the Swilcan Bridge and the Valley of Sin.
Owner Dotty Kennedy said: "We've watched every Open held here since 1958 but even when there is no championship this apartment offers staggering views."
Andrew Smith, handling the sale for Strutt & Parker estate agents, said: "Having sold property throughout Scotland for more than 20 years, 14 The Links undoubtedly offers the finest view of any home I have seen.
"It is a truly remarkable, magical and special spot, redolent with history and tradition."
