Police say no crime committed in West Lothian incident

Police investigating reports of a woman being forced into a car in West Lothian say they are now satisfied no crime was committed.

Officers appealed for information following an incident which happened at about 19:15 on the Livingston to Polbeth road on Thursday.

A number of people had reported seeing a man bundle a woman into a car.

Lothian and Border Police said several members of the public came forward and no further action was required.

A police spokesman said: "The assistance of the public was vital in allowing officers to conclude no crime was committed and officers are extremely grateful to everyone who came forward.

"We would still ask that the male and female who were at the centre of this incident contact police to allow officers to close the enquiry."
