Investigation into woman's death in Fife house fire

An investigation is under way after a 60-year-old woman died in a house fire in Dunfermline, Fife.

Emergency services were called to the property in the town's Husband Place at about 12:20 on Monday.

The fire had been extinguished by the time they arrived and the house was heavily smoke-logged.

The woman, who has not been named, was found inside. Fife Constabulary and Fife Fire and Rescue Service have launched a joint investigation.

Det Insp David McLaren said: "At this early stage, indications are that there are no suspicious circumstances, although we will continue to keep an open mind."
