Edinburgh primary teacher downloaded indecent images

A 28-year-old primary school teacher from Edinburgh has admitted to possessing indecent images of children.

Colin Chisholm, of Dryden Place, was caught after police received information that he had been downloading indecent material from the internet.

The city's sheriff court heard that officers discovered the pictures on his computer after a raid at his then home in Bruntsfield Gardens in April.

Sentence was deferred until next month.

Fiscal Depute, Dev Kapadia, told Sheriff Isabella McColl that when the police called at Chisholm's home with a search warrant he denied having any indecent images, but later admitted he had and co-operated fully.

Mr Kapadia said there were three moving images involving children aged between six and 12.

Chisholm was employed at St Cuthbert's RC Primary School, Edinburgh, in primaries one and three as a specialist teacher for autistic children.

The court heard that the images were at the lower end of the scale for indecent pictures.

The fiscal said Chisholm himself had notified his employers of what had happened.

Sheriff McColl ordered that the first offender, be placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
