Motorcyclist David Steadwood dies after hitting kerb

A motorcyclist died after injuring his neck when he hit a kerb while driving in Midlothian.

David Steadwood, 35, from Loanhead, crashed on the B704 at the Cockpen roundabout near Bonnyrigg on Saturday at about 16:15.

Lothian and Borders Police said he was riding his Suzuki motorbike north when he crashed at the roundabout.

Passersby and paramedics tried to resuscitate Mr Steadwood, but he died at the scene.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
