Dog dies in West Lothian house blaze
A pet dog has died in a "fierce blaze" at a house in West Lothian.
The family pet Staffordshire bull terrier was found dead after the two-hour fire in a house in Ann Street in Boghall on Thursday.
Firefighters were called to the three-bedroom semi-detached house just after 20:00. Nobody was in the house at the time of the blaze.
Firefighters said conditions at the scene were very difficult due to extremely hot temperatures inside.
A Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: "Three appliances were mobilised to the property which was well alight on arrival.
"The cause of the fire is not known but fire investigation officers were examining the scene last night with police to establish how the blaze started."
