'Abducted' girl charged with wasting police time

A teenager who claimed a hooded man had attempted to abduct her in Edinburgh has been charged with wasting police time.

The 17-year-old said she had been approached by a hooded man wearing goggles in the Pillars area of Gilmerton at about 20:30 on Monday.

She said he grabbed her and tried to drag her into a secluded area beside Morrisons supermarket.

Lothian and Borders Police said a court date has yet to be set.
