Heavily pregnant woman attacked in Fife

A man who "viciously" assaulted a heavily pregnant woman while trying to steal her handbag in Fife is being sought by police.

The woman was hit across the face in broad daylight on Boblingen Way, Glenrothes, just after noon on Tuesday.

The 32 year old was walking towards the Matalan store when the young man tried to grab her bag.

He is about 6ft, slim, and was wearing black jogging trousers. He was riding a red BMX bike with black spokes.

He was also wearing a black zipped hooded top and white trainers

The woman resisted and she was then "heavily hit" across the face, before the man cycled off in the direction of the Matalan store.

Det Con Lynsey Johnston, of Fife Constabulary, said: "This was a particularly nasty and brutal attack on a defenceless woman.

"Although the attack was witnessed by a woman walking nearby, there were two other women walking a dog in the vicinity at the time, and we are keen to talk to them."
