Suspicious fire at Whitburn Indian restaurant probed

A suspicious fire at an Indian restaurant in West Lothian is being investigated by police.

Thirty firefighters tackled a blaze at Madras Cottage in East Main Street, Whitburn, which broke out at 04:15.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said the fire started in a back kitchen and spread to an upstairs flat. Fire crews had to gain access through a roof.

No-one was injured in the blaze, which has now been brought under control.

East and West Main Street and Armadale Road in Whitburn were closed for several hours, but have since re-opened.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "We want to speak to anyone who was in the area of East Main Street in Whitburn in the early hours of this morning, who noticed any suspicious activity there.

"Anyone else who has any other information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch."
