Bus attack link to train bricking in Edinburgh

A bus window has been smashed by a bottle in a "mindless act of vandalism" which is being linked to an incident when a brick was thrown at a train.

A woman narrowly avoided being hit when the bottle smashed an upper-deck window on the number 44 Lothian Bus in Milton Road in Edinburgh at 19:00 on Sunday.

Last week a brick was thrown from a bridge over a railway in the Milton Road area, damaging a passing train.

Lothian and Borders Police believe both incidents are linked.

A police spokesman said: "These mindless acts of vandalism and aggression resulted in both a train and bus sustaining damage to their windows and it is pure luck that no one was injured during either incident.

"We believe the same individuals are responsible for the damage to both vehicles and would ask anyone who can assist with our investigation to contact police immediately."
