Man dies after car hits lamp post in Leith

A 38-year-old man has died after the car he was travelling in hit a lamp post and then a wall in Edinburgh.

David Yorkston, from Port Seton in East Lothian, died after his silver Vauxhall Signum crashed in Salamander Street, Leith, at 18:55 on Tuesday.

The man received medical treatment from the emergency services but Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them.
