Edinburgh schoolgirl, 12, hurt after being hit by car

A 12-year-old girl is being treated in hospital in Edinburgh after she was hit by a car on her way to school.

It happened at the city's Orchard Brae just after 08:00. It is understood she got off a bus and as she ran across the road she was knocked down.

Lothian and Borders Police said her injuries were not life threatening.

It is understood she is a Broughton High School pupil. She is being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
