Woman dies after fire at Mayfield cottage
A fire at a cottage in Midlothian which killed a 65-year-old woman on Monday afternoon may have been caused by an electrical fault.
Emergency services were called to Crawlees Cottages on Suttieslea Road in Mayfield at about 12:06.
About 20 firefighters tackled the blaze and rescued a 65-year-old woman from the kitchen area of the two-storey property.
She was treated at the scene but died later in hospital.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue said investigators were still looking at the cause of the fire, but initial indications suggest it was electrical.
