Man struck by car in Edinburgh dies from injuries

A man has died after he was struck by a car in the Corstorphine area of Edinburgh on Tuesday evening.

Lothian and Borders Police were called to Corstorphine High Street at about 18:20 and found the 54-year-old pedestrian with serious head injuries.

He was taken to the Western General Hospital but his condition deteriorated overnight and he later died.

The identity of the man has not yet been released. Officers appealed for any witnesses to contact police.

The collision involved a blue Toyota MR2.

A police spokesman said: "At the time of the incident the area would have been busy with pedestrians, and we want anyone who witnessed the collision, which happened close to the Corstorphine Inn, to contact police immediately."
