Rugby player Max Evans goes on trial accused of assault
Scotland rugby star Max Evans has gone on trial accused of assaulting a man in an Edinburgh nightclub.
He denies attacking Alasdair McCaig in the Lulu nightclub in August 2010 and claims that he acted in self-defence.
Mr McCaig told the jury he had been drinking at the bar with his sister and a friend when a man appeared on his right hand side and struck him in the face with a glass.
The trial, at Edinburgh Sheriff Court, continues.
Mr Evans, who has been capped 24 times for Scotland, currently plays for French side Castres.
