Two women held in Edinburgh bogus caller hunt

Two women have been arrested after bogus callers targeted sheltered accommodation in Edinburgh.

Elderly residents on Niddrie Mains Road were robbed of money and possessions after allowing people claiming to be carers into their property.

A 27-year-old woman and 25-year-old woman have been detained as part of Operation Aristotle, a citywide campaign to target bogus callers.

The pair were expected to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

Det Ch Insp Sara Buchanan, who leads Operation Aristotle for Lothian and Borders Police, said: "Bogus callers prey on the most vulnerable members of our communities and their actions can have a devastating impact."
