Pair attacked in Edinburgh street

A man suffered a serious head injury after he and another man were attacked in Edinburgh in the early hours.

Lothian and Borders Police said the pair were attacked by two men at about 03:30 in South Charlotte Street.

Both the victims were punched in the face and knocked to the ground in the incident.

The attackers were described as white males in their early 20s. One was wearing a white v-neck t-shirt and the other a dark coloured t-shirt.

The second suspect was said to have either short cropped hair or be balding.

Police said a number of passers-by stopped to assist the victims and the culprits were pointed out to a passing taxi driver.

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack.
