Fatal Edinburgh motorbike crash witnesses sought by police

Witnesses to a crash in Edinburgh where a man was found dead next to a motorbike have been urged to come forward by police.

Daniel Baird, 20, from Edinburgh, was found at 05:45 on Monday lying beside a motorbike in a walkway from the old 'Big W' car park at Milton Link Road.

An 18-year-old man who had been on the motorcycle with him sustained serious leg injuries.

Police believe the motorbike may have hit a tree.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "While the two men were discovered at 05:45, we have yet to determine exactly when the incident took place.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen two men riding a motorcycle in the area in the early hours of bank holiday Monday 7 May.

"We are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident, however we need to fully establish the circumstances.

"We would appeal to anyone who may have any information about the incident to contact us immediately."
