Penicuik thieves sought over Midlothian hit-and-run
Thieves who stole a car in Midlothian before injuring another motorist in a hit-and-run are being sought by police.
The silver Vauxhall Astra was stolen from Carlops Avenue, Penicuik, between 12:00 and 12.30 on Saturday after the key had been left in the ignition.
The two thieves then drove the car at "excessive" speed to the junction with Cuiken Avenue, which they drove through without stopping.
They hit a Ford Focus, injuring the driver.
The pair, who are both about 20-years-old, with slim builds, then fled from the stolen vehicle along Carlops Avenue.
A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "While the driver of the Ford Focus was not badly injured, he was left shaken as a result of the mindless actions of these two individuals, particularly as his partner and 19-month-old daughter were passengers in the vehicle.
"We are appealing to anyone who was in or around Carlops Avenue around midday on Saturday, who saw the two suspects there or who witnessed the collision, to contact police immediately if they have not already done so.
"Likewise, anyone who recognises their descriptions, or who has any other information that can help our inquiries, should also get in touch."
