School evacuated after JCB hits gas pipe in Fife

Part of a Fife town has been evacuated after a gas main outside the local primary school was fractured.

Firefighters were called to the scene just after 15:00 following reports a JCB digger had hit the gas pipe in Markinch.

School children and people in nearby buildings have left the scene while engineers from Transco fix the problem.

About 30 nursery children were taken to a nearby hotel before being collected by parents.
