At least 50 firefighters have been battling a large fire at an industrial estate in West Lothian.

The fire broke out at 19:40 on Wednesday in the roof space of a derelict building at Lower Bathville in Armadale. No-one was hurt.

The fire then spread to two neighbouring buildings.

It took three hours to put the fire out and Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service stayed at the site until 08:00 on Thursday, checking for hotspots.

Police officers visited nearby homes to advise residents to keep windows and doors closed to avoid the thick black smoke entering their properties.

Roads in the area were also closed to allow access for five fire engines, four specialist fire appliances and a pump and water bowser from Central Fire and Rescue to access the blaze.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now underway.
