Evacuation as 16 homes flood in Fife storm

Dozens of people have been evacuated after 16 homes flooded in mid Fife.

Seven houses in East Wemyss, two in Kinghorn and seven in Kirkcaldy were flooded during heavy rain which started at about 04:30.

One family with four young children in Kirkcaldy have been temporarily rehomed by Fife Council.

Meanwhile flooding has caused four roads to be closed in mid Fife and a landslip is being cleared from the B909 at Burntisland.

A spokesman for the Scottish Environment Protection Agency said it was aware of local flooding issues in Fife overnight but that the situation should improve throughout the day.
