A firefighter has been taken to hospital after a fire engine he was driving toppled over during a training exercise at Edinburgh Airport.

The man was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken arm following the incident at 10:15.

Another firefighter who was in the vehicle at the time was not hurt.

An investigation has been launched into the accident. A spokesman for the airport said it had not affected any flights.

He said: "I can confirm an incident with one of our fire appliances this morning which saw one firefighter taken to hospital with suspected fractures to his arm.

"The incident occurred during operational training and did not in any way impair the operation of the airport or affect our passengers.
