Man rescued from garage fire in Dalkeith

A man has been taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation after he was rescued from a fire in a car salvage yard in Midlothian.

The fire started at 10:00 at Transport Services on Old Dalkeith Road in Dalkeith.

Firefighters have been tackling the blaze from outside the building as it is unsafe after it partially collapsed.

A spokesperson for the Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said it was unclear how the fire started.

Old Dalkeith Road has been closed at Danderhall and traffic diverted.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
