Motorist killed in Edinburgh lorry crash

A motorist has died and his female passenger seriously injured after their car was involved in a collision with a lorry in Edinburgh.

The accident happened at the Clovenstone Roundabout on the B701 Wester Hailes Road at about 13:30.

The 22-year-old driver of the Honda CRX car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 26-year-old passenger in the car was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. The lorry driver is not thought to have been seriously hurt.

Officers closed the road after the collision, with diversions put in place.

Lothian and Borders Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them.
