Prisoner from HMP Addiewell dies in custody

A prisoner from HMP Addiewell has died at St John's Hospital in Livingston, according to the Scottish Prison Service (SPS).

John Wilson, 45, died on Monday. He had been convicted of assault and two drug offences in June 2011.

The SPS said police have been advised and the matter would be reported to the procurator fiscal.

A fatal accident inquiry may be held at a later date. Mr Wilson's next of kin have been notified.
