An armed raider who held up an East Lothian shop is being sought by police.

The incident happened at about 18:20 on Tuesday at the Paperview Newsagent in North High Street, Musselburgh.

The man entered the shop and threatened the shopkeeper with a knife, demanding she open the till. The shopkeeper refused and the man left the shop.

He was 5ft 11ins tall, 20 to 30-years-old, of slim build, with a sallow complexion. He spoke with a foreign accent, possibly eastern European.

The robber was wearing a dark hat, a white scarf over the lower part of his face, and a shiny royal blue tracksuit top and bottoms.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said: "While the shopkeeper wasn't injured, she was understandably shaken as a result of her ordeal, and we are appealing to anyone who has any information that can help us trace the suspect to contact police."
