Man charged over Fife murder
A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 90-year-old woman in Fife.
Thomas Brogan is charged with killing pensioner Georgina Barnett at her house in Kirkcaldy on 25 June.
Police were called to the property following reports of a disturbance and the woman died in the town's Victoria Hospital five days later.
Brogan initially appeared in court accused of assault but has been charged with murder following her death.
The 46-year-old, from Kirkcaldy, made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
Ms Barnett's family, who knew her as Doddy, released a statement through police at the time of her death.
Her niece, Angela Copeland, said: "Doddy was a very special person to everyone who knew her, particularly her family, friends and neighbours."
