Woman dies after Aberdour cliff fall

A woman has died in hospital after suffering serious head injuries in a fall from a cliff in Fife.

The incident happened at Hawkcraig Point in Aberdour at about 21:50 on Wednesday.

Emergency services, including a specialist rope rescue team from Lochgelly, fire and rescue crews, the coastguard and inshore lifeguard attended.

The ambulance service said the woman had fallen about 40ft (12m) onto rocks.

She was taken by ambulance to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy but later died.
