Teen in hospital after two man attack in Bathgate

Police have appealed for witnesses following a serious assault in West Lothian.

An 18-year-old man suffered serious head injuries when two men assaulted him and his friend in an unprovoked attack.

The incident happened at about 02:22 on Saturday in Hopetoun Lane, near to the Envy Nightclub in Bathgate.

He is currently receiving treatment for his injuries at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.

His friend sustained minor injuries.

Both attackers were described as white and 19 to 20 years old.

The first man was said to be 6ft, of slim build and with short blond hair.

The other man was of slim build, with dirty blond hair, which was possibly spiked.

Det Con Stevie McCormick, from Police Scotland, said: "The victim has suffered serious head injuries in this unprovoked attack, and we are keen for any information that can help us trace the two suspects.

"Anyone who witnessed the assault, or who recognises the description of the suspects, should contact police immediately.

"Anyone else with any information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch."
