Dozens evacuated during night fire in central Edinburgh

Dozens of people had to leave their homes in the middle of the night after fire broke out in central Edinburgh.

The emergency services were called to North Foulis Close off the High Street just after 04:00.

The fire was located in the ground floor flat of a six storey tenement building. The close was cordoned off while firefighters tackled the blaze.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was brought under control by about 07:00. No one was injured.
