Edinburgh Castle rocks The man became stuck while climbing on the castle rocks

A man who was rescued by firefighters after climbing up the rocks surrounding Edinburgh Castle has been charged.

A police spokesman said the 19-year-old had been charged with culpable and reckless behaviour after calling the fire service just after 03:00 to say he was stuck on the Johnston Terrace rocks.

Firefighters reached him using a ladder and brought him to safety.

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
