Woman dies after being hit by motorbike in Leith

A woman has died in hospital after being hit by a motorbike in Edinburgh.

Police said she was fatally injured as she crossed Great Junction Street in the Leith area at 11:50 on Friday.

The woman, who has yet to be identified, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where she later died.

The motorbike rider was also taken to hospital but his condition is not serious.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Great Junction Street was busy with traffic and pedestrians at the time of the collision, and we are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident."
