Man hospitalised by unprovoked attack in Edinburgh

A man is being treated in hospital for a serious head injury after an unprovoked attack by two men in Edinburgh.

The attack on the 29-year-old happened in Leith Street, at about 00:05 on Saturday.

The first attacker was white, in his 20s, 5ft 9ins, of medium build, with light brown short hair, a grey hooded top and possibly grey bottoms.

The other attacker was wearing a black jacket.

PC Colin Talbott, of Police Scotland, said: "The victim has suffered serious head injury in this unprovoked attack, and we are keen for any information that can help us trace the two suspects.

"Anyone who witnessed the assault, or who recognises the description of the suspects, should contact police immediately.

"Anyone else with any information that can assist our inquiries should also get in touch."
