Bullets recovered from Edinburgh house by police

Unlicensed bullets and shotgun cartridges have been recovered from a house in Edinburgh by police.

Officers found the ammunition while searching the property in Saughton Mains Place on Wednesday.

Other items were also seized and police are continuing with their investigation to identify those responsible for owning the ammunition.

Det Insp Stuart Harkness, of Police Scotland, urged anyone with information to come forward.

He said: "Information from the public is a vital tool for tackling serious organised crime and recovering illicit materials before they can harm our communities.

"In this instance, intelligence we received resulted in a number of different bullets and cartridges being seized and our inquiries are ongoing to trace anyone linked to this ammunition.

"I would urge members of our communities to continue to come forward with information concerning criminal activity, which will be acted upon in the strictest confidence by police."
